Instead of each flight simulator trying to replicate the entire Earth, why don't they get together and collect the raw data between themselves, and then draw this scenery in their respective software packages? Would save a lot of effort for each simulator collecting the raw data in the first instance (or in the case of X-Plane getting the users to do this for them via the Gateway).
